Wind energy and wind turbine power have become very popular in the public perception as possible solutions to the threat of global warming by reducing or eliminating the need for fossil fuel powered electrical generation. The idea that clean cheap power could save the planet is beguiling and many have accepted this dream as reality rather than fantasy.

As wind energy development is spreading across the United States, its flaws, foibles, misconceptions and myths are being exposed.

While all wind generation is not bad, industrial scale wind generation is creating massive problems for those individuals and communities unfortunate enough to be in its sights. Wherever the wind industry targets, community groups form to oppose the losses that the turbines will take from the area. Community education efforts are begun to inform citizens of the dissimilarities between windís promises and reality. Anyone who has studied the history of the new wind energy boom in the United States will understand the frightening truth of this statement.
