This is a gallery of snapshots of the wind energy business then and now. In the first series of pictures, taken in April 2008, we see America’s largest wind farm at Altamont Pass, California. These are a fraction of the nearly 5,000 wind turbines that haunt these hills. It is often said that wind turbines are not permanent, and that they will be removed when they become outmoded. Please note the wind industry’s eagerness to clean up these hills. Also note the non-operating machines.
